Why is Google Singapore looking to hire a Manager who can speak Hindi?

A reader sent us this advertisement he found in the Government’s Jobsbank and asked why Google Singapore was searching for a Partner Operations Manager who can speak Hindi.
The reader asked: “From the job description, the candidate will be working with professionals who will understand English, not villages from India. So is there a need to speak Hindi for this role?”

Speaking to the Straits Times in November last year, the CEO of the world’s biggest Internet company said that she wants to welcome more Singaporeans into its new “kampung”.
