A woman took to the popular NUS Whispers Facebook page with an unusual dating story. But unlike other posters, she wasn’t necessarily asking for advice. But she certainly had a story to tell.
“I met someone online who brings his mother along for our first date LOL.”
The woman and her date met on a date renting website, where he first reached out to her.
With date renting websites, people can hire companions for social events or meet-ups for a certain fee.
After checking on his picture and the reviews written about him, she agreed to a meet-up.
“He seems quite legit,” she wrote.
However, one comment in his reviews stood out to her and caused her to grow skeptical. A one-star review said, “Brought +1 without telling”.
“But I already got the payment from him and the meetup is out of my convenience,” she wrote.
Just before they were to meet, the man told her that his best friend was his mother, and that they spent a lot of time together.
“At first I thought, ‘Awww that’s sweet!” the woman wrote.
But the man proceeded to talk about her “nonstop, her work, her hobbies, the things she did, he even shared her picture to me which I thought was kinda funky.”
On the day of the date, the following happened:
“He hopped out of his mom’s car and she waved and drove off, like 20 seconds later she shows back up and pulls up a seat, turns out she was parking the car to come join us LOL.”
The woman added that during the entire date, the mother talked about her work and showed photos of her playing baseball.
But she added that “they sat REALLY close together and kept hugging and kissing each other’s cheek, it was so freaking awkward.”
Some netizens commenting on her post seemed as amused as she was.
