A member of the public took to social media to raise awareness of the “poor management” leading to congestion at a bus stop.
“Contacted LTA (Land Transport Authority) to raise the issue of extremely long wait time for bus and poor management of the bus allocation which led to over congestion of the morning traffic,” wrote a Facebook group Complaint Singapore member on Wednesday (Oct 19).
According to the commuter, they have to wait 20 to 30 minutes every morning for the bus. “Today, even better, have to walk to train station to avoid wasting any more time.”
He noted that after waiting over half an hour, he still had to walk to the train station as there was no bus.
“No action taken yet keep want to increase transport fare,” added the concerned individual.
“I live there. Yes, it’s true, but if one is willing, one can take 962 to the MRT station,” wrote Facebook user Philip Leong who confirmed the issue but offered an alternative.
“Public transport is no longer to serve the public but a profit transport system,” said Facebook user Danny Ang Pk.
Facebook user Amk Fong noted that buses and trains were a “time-wasting transport.” Singaporeans are wasting a few hours every day for their entire life in inefficient modes of transport, she added.
A netizen explained that increasing fares was acceptable as long as the service was reliable. “Now vehicle COE also skyrocket. Best option is to ride an electric bicycle.”
Others agreed this was a reason why they opted to take a bicycle instead. /TISG
