Maid says her employer gives her 3 extra off days a month but asks her to clean the house and wash the dishes when she gets back; wants to know if this is fair
A maid new to Singapore and working for her first employer took to social media asking whether she should help with cleaning on her days off.
In an anonymous post to Facebook page FDW in Singapore (working conditions forum), the helper wrote that she agreed to one day off a month and signed her contract based on this. She initially thought that she did not want the other three days off and asked that she be compensated with money for them instead. However, after finding out that working for her employer could get stressful, she decided to attend Sunday School.
Jamus Lim rebuts letter writer who said WP policy proposals would “raid” SG reserves, leaving next-generation S’poreans “impoverished & indebted”
Jamus Lim sought to clarify the policies proposed by The Workers’ Party concerning Singapore’s reserves, as the writer of a letter published on Chinese-language news site zaobao.com.sg appeared to believe that these policies would “raid” the reserves and leave the next generation of Singaporeans “impoverished and indebted.”
The context of the letter is about the Goods and Services Tax hike, which the WP continues to oppose. The letter-writer, Mr Lim, wrote that WP’s policies involving using Singapore’s reserves in order to fund the government’s aid packages would take a toll on future generations.

The panel, which functions under the Ministry of National Development, recommended an additional one and a half hours of enforced quiet time in neighbourhoods. The extension came after consultations with about 4,400 members of the public, with many agreeing that noisy activities in the current period are unacceptable.

In Singapore, the collapse has been double compounded by the fact that Temasek Holdings, one of our sovereign wealth funds (technically Temasek isn’t an SWF but acts like one), was a prominent investor. A lot is being said about the collapse, so I shall not dwell on what happened. However, a recap of events can be found at:
My brother keeps asking me for loans to buy branded bags, watches, and frequent holidays; mum feels I should help him
A netizen who felt that his brother was overstepping and repeatedly asking him for loans took to social media asking netizens what he should do.
In an anonymous post to popular confessions page SGWhispers, the man wrote: “Sibling asking for loan and his lifestyle choices are more expensive than mine”. He said that his brother would occasionally ask him for loans, and the amounts would range from a few hundred to a few thousand. He added that while his brother would sometimes return the money to him, overall there would still be a debt incurred.
