Singapore — A mother dog with a pipe stuck on her neck, and her puppy, was spotted by the volunteers of Action for Singapore Dogs (ASD). By the time they managed to get her, it was already nighttime, and they had to rush her to a 24-hour open emergency hospital.
ASD shared in their Facebook post how they rescued the dog. During ASD’s usual rounds around Lim Chu Kang they were shocked to see a dog running across the area frantically because of a pipe stuck around her head and neck. ASD is unsure of how the dog got into this situation.
As they knew this dog had recently given birth, they acted with urgency as it may die of starvation and dehydration, endangering even the life of her puppy. ASD stated that it was hard to capture the dog as it was scared, and they had to trap her in a vast open area.
The quest was challenging, and it took hours before they finally rescued the dog and her puppy at 8:00 pm.
ASD added, “One of the volunteers had to climb a high structure and jump from a height to grab onto her while those on the ground prevented her from running away. Desperate times indeed called for desperate measures!”
Since most of the veterinary clinics were already closed, and it was an urgent matter, ASD had to rush the mother dog and its puppy to a 24-hr Emergency Hospital.
ASD stated that the dog and the puppy were severely dehydrated, they mentioned, “The relief was palpable when the pipe was finally removed. The mother dog was severely dehydrated and had to be hospitalised for observation together with her pup.”
The next day, relieved, they reported that the two were in good health and ready to be discharged. ASD mentioned in their post that both were already in a comfortable situation and ready for adoption, “They were discharged and sent to our kennels where we had prepared a safe and comfortable spot until they are ready for adoption. The mum is relatively young, about two to three years old, and pup is only about two weeks old.”
Concerned citizens reminded everyone to practice disposing of trash responsibly for the welfare of stray animals. /TISG
