Jewel Changi Airport to open its first Apple store with multilingual staff

Singapore – On July 13 (Saturday) at 10 am, Apple will open its second store in Singapore  at Jewel Changi Airport.

Located at the second level of the mall complex, the new outlet will satisfy any Apple devotee’s tech cravings, featuring more than 200 of Apple’s latest gadgets in the two-storey store.

During a sneak preview on July 11 (Thursday), the tech giant revealed that it would employ more than 100 staff who are able to converse in multiple languages and some will even be able to talk in sign language – a perfect strategy for a store located in an airport with heavy foot traffic from travellers.

German, Hindi, Italian, Malay, and Mandarin are some of the languages the staff will be able to converse in, said Apple Singapore.

Customers with time to spare can also participate in the Today at Apple programme, which is a joint creative session at an Apple store that teaches you how to maximize your product fully. The programme even provides free daily courses of video and photography, coding and apps, health and fitness, music and more.

The Magic of Jewel Changi Airport Photo Walk, a unique session offered exclusively to Jewel customers will allow visitors to learn new photography skills on an iPhone and iPad while strolling through the mall’s attractions.

The one-hour session, which will include a 500m walk, will show users how to maximize the different modes in their Apple smartphone or tablet to capture the best photos then gain some tips and tricks from the experts.

“We know that people in Singapore love to learn,” said M Denny Tuza, Apple’s senior market director. “We saw this with our Today at Apple sessions in Apple Orchard Road.”

“We wanted to create something really special here at Changi, something really unique, something different. So, we created our own Today at Apple session [The Magic of Jewel Changi Airport Photo Walk].”

The senior marketing director also mentioned that the response towards their first store in Orchard Road has been remarkable.

“In the two years we have been open, we have welcomed more than four million customers through our doors,” said Mr Tuza.

“Now, we are excited at opening our doors to even more people in this wonderful city and around the globe as people travel through this bustling airport,” he added.

Apple is set to open up another store at Marina Bay Sands in the coming months, reported The Straits Times.

Those who arrive early for the grand opening on Saturday can avail themselves of an Apple exclusive commemorative T-shirt, although it was not specified how many would be given out. -/TISG
