‘Vixen, steal someone’s husband, go and die’ says woman who suspects husband of adultery

A woman drove into a condominium in Sembawang by tailgating another car, then vandalised the gate, door and walls of a unit that was home to a woman she suspected of being her husband’s lover.

And then she left a note in Chinese for the younger woman, which read:  “Vixen, steal someone’s husband, go and die.”

Xu Wenying, 53, thought her husband was having an affair with a woman called Wang Hemei, 47. So Xu hired a private investigator who got her the address of Ms Wang.

Armed with that, Xu went to the condominium on Jan 25, 2021 at about 3pm, while Ms Wang and her son were out. She slipped  into the condo grounds by closely following another car, thus escaping the notice of security guards. But she was spotted on CCTV.

When Xu got to Ms Wang’s unit, she took out a can of spray paint and defaced the gate and door, and also sprayed several shoes that were outside. She also used her car keys to scratch the door to the unit.

When Ms Wang and her son got home and saw the damage, they alerted the police.

On Nov 11 last year, Xu pleaded guilty to one count of trespass and another of committing mischief. An additional charge of using threatening words to cause alarm under the Protection from Harassment Act was considered in her sentencing.

Repairs to the vandalized property cost $5,434, and at first Xu refused to pay because she claimed these items had been purchased with money given to Ms Wang by her husband. However, by July 2021, she paid Ms Wang.

Xu was fined $10,800  on Monday for breaking into the property and vandalising the place. She could have ended up in jail for three months and been fined $1,500, or both, for criminal trespass. For mischief, she could also have been fined or jailed for us to two years, or both.

The court was not told whether or not there was any truth to her suspicions.
