Singapore – The epic translation of SMRT (Singapore Mass Rapid Transit) from Czech to “death” in English has its own thread in Reddit, showing an eerie symbolization to SMRT deaths in 2016.

Reddit user jxjxjxx uploaded a screenshot on March 31 (Sunday) of Google translate showing “smrt” meant “death” in Czech language.

User trolledgt commented: “Haha. This translation is epic,” to which merelymyself replied, “Not just epic but true.”

For those who need a refresher, citocam gave it:

“There were SMRT employees that died after being hit by the SMRT train, due to security protocol not being followed by SMRT staff.

That death only some of the most well-known SMRT incompetencies. (sic)

Other incompetencies involves signing work form for the work that was actually never being done, lead to an underground station being shut due to water in tracks.(sic)

And the dislodged third rail claws that was never investigated, maintained, that lead to December 2011 breakdowns, that leads to Committee of Inquiry being setup to investigate the breakdowns. (sic)

More recently a SMRT train moving while some of the door remain open. (sic)

And some cases of refrigerant leaking to the train cabin.(sic)

And so on.”

Reddit user naka2323 shared a recent experience with an SMRT bus and how the driver was half asleep. “Oh yes I am new to Singapore however today I was in a smrt bus and the driver was half asleep I really do not know how this is allowed,” wrote naka2323.

Citocam gave some advice and recommended taking a video of the incident, should it happen again, and reporting it to LTA and SMRT. “Well, next time try to note down the bus number, direction, date and approx. time; when you encounter this kind of issue. Try to feedback to SMRT, and maybe LTA. There are CCTV in the bus, Authority can look into it to investigate the report. (sic) Also better if you also have your video. Stay safe,”  (sic) said citocam.-TISG
