Yesterday, the lawyer of former tour guide Yang Yin asked the court to impose a three-year jail term for his client instead of the 10 to 12 years prosecutors were asking for.
In doing so, he submitted a series of photos to portray a close and loving relationship between the former grassroots volunteer and elderly widow: “Yang was the grandson Chung never had.”
These photos showed Yang clipping the toenails of Chung as well as him taking her out for a shopping trip with a cart filled with groceries.
However, the prosecution said that these photos were taken all on the the 20 Aug 2014, which was the immediate day after Yang had been sued by Chung’s niece Hedy Mok.
“I think the inference is quite clear”, said DPP Vaswani.
This is in stark contrast to the earlier series of photos that have surfaced online, where Yang was seen with his wife and children while Chung was at home.
What do you think?
