Rui En accepts all the ‘she’s doing it for publicity’ comments about her charity work

Rui En, 41, a Singaporean actress, had a recent interview with Mothership about her heart for charity work.

In an Instagram post, she expressed how thankful she is to be given an opportunity to talk about her good deeds, and a little about mental health. “What a wonderful way to cap off the year.” the actress said.

Rui En had been dedicating her social media platforms to inspiring her followers to do volunteer initiatives as well. Together with her fans club, RBKD, she managed to donate blood, distribute care packages to the elderly and health workers during the pandemic, and more.

With such supportive fans, all the logistics needed for charity such as gaining sponsors and looking for manpower are all taken care of by RBKD. The fans club had already formed various networks with potential sponsors and contacts for their future activities.

I’ve been very blessed that I have a fan club who’s very efficient, logistics wise” the 41-year-old actress added.

However, despite all her positive efforts, Rui En received several comments that doing charity work should not be publicized and that what she’s doing is a form of virtue signalling.

The actress then stated that it is important for her to lead by example. It is better for her to take action, rather than just talk about it.

“…if I can raise even an iota of awareness, or even inspire a single person to start giving, I’ll take it,” Rui En declared.

Moreover, these negative comments do not bother her as much now, after 20 years in the limelight industry.

“I’ll take the virtue signalling and “she’s doing it for publicity” comments. After all, isn’t that the whole point of my IG?” she said.

For her, the consequence of publicizing her charity works is a price she’s willing to pay.

Rui En concluded by encouraging everyone to help.

“What is a small step u can take to end the year giving? It doesn’t have to be a huge one, but trust me, the joy you feel from being of service is worth it,” she remarked.
