Singapore — Residents can now check online which hawkers and heartland merchants accept the vouchers distributed recently by the Community Development Council (CDC).

“Go where for CDC voucher merchants? The answers are now at your fingertips,”  Mayor Low Yen Ling of the South West District said on Thursday in a Facebook post. She also chairs the Mayors’ Committee.

To find out which merchants and hawkers in your postal code area accept the vouchers,  visit the new website and key in your postal code. It will then direct you to a list of participating businesses.

Ms Low the five CDCs and the Government Technology Agency (GovTech) put together the website to help Singaporeans easily locate the participating businesses nearest them.

“Happy to share that to-date, more than 830,000 or close to two-thirds of Singaporean households have claimed their S$100 CDC vouchers,” said Ms Low.

More than $7 million worth of vouchers have already been used, she said, and the list of participating hawkers and heartland merchants is also growing, with more than 11,000 outlets currently registered.

Still, some people have reported issues using the vouchers. On the Complaint Singapore’s Facebook page, a netizen griped that a certain stall in Hougang Avenue 8 had the CDC poster up indicating the vouchers were accepted at the stall, but the customer said that they couldn’t use it to pay.

Another netizen commented that some stalls accept only the printed CDC vouchers.

Before heading out, you might want to double-check with the new website to confirm.

The S$130 million CDC voucher scheme was launched on Dec 13 to offer a benefit to all Singapore households.

The voucher giveaway has two key objectives: to thank Singaporeans for their sense of solidarity during the pandemic, and to support hawkers and merchants hard hit during these many months.

Up to 1.3 million households will receive S$100 in CDC vouchers, which can be claimed and spent before Dec 31, 2022.

Only one member of each household is needed to claim the vouchers at the following link, using Singpass to log in.

A CDC vouchers link will then be sent to the registered mobile phone number, which can be shared and used by other household members. /TISG
