Student allegedly detained in bus gives lesson on how not to write an incident report

Carrie Chan, a student at Kaplan College, said on her Facebook that she was detained in a SBS bus by its ticket inspector, who refused to let her alight unless she paid a fine for under-paying fare.
She said that she boarded SBS double-decker bus service 14 (Bus no. 7346H) at about 2.30 pm, and paid the student fare in cash (her card had insufficient money stored in it). A ticket inspector soon boarded the bus, and demanded to see her ticket by smacking her hand twice. She was on the phone with her friend when he did that.
The inspector, who she named as Shahruddin Mohd, said that her student concession card had expired, she was not eligible for student fares and demanded loudly that she paid a spot fine of $50.
The student got furious that she was being asked to pay a fine and kicked up a fuss. Some passengers on board suggested that the inspector asked her to pay the adult fares instead of a discounted one to resolve the issue. The inspector told them not to interfere and continued to insist that the student gave him her full particulars and paid a fine.
When she refused, he took her card and went to talk to the driver below. After awhile, she sensed something amiss when the bus stopped moving. She noticed that the inspector had asked all the other passengers to alight, and had her locked in the bus.
When she confronted him, he told her that she had to pay the fine of $50 if she wanted to leave. The police soon arrived and mediated in the fracas. It is not clear from her post how the police mediated in the matter, but she mentioned that she was not going to pay the fine.
The mass communications student of the institution of higher learning said that she tried to call the transport company’s hotline a few times, and as she was not able to get through to them, she was airing her views publicly through her social media platform.
Whoever is in the right on this matter, the mass communications student’s facebook post is a prime example to all media students on how NOT to write an incident report.

Dear SBS Transit , I'm very disappointed & offended by your transport inspector. I boarded SBS bus service 14 (Bus no….
