Tributes pour in for nurse who committed suicide, colleagues hope to raise awareness of their plight

 

Singapore — Late on Wednesday night (Dec 8), nurses’ group @sgnightingales posted a photo of Ms Karunyah Paskaran.

Ms Paskaran has been identified as the nurse who committed suicide, as was recounted in an earlier report.

Netizens sympathise with hawkers fined for not wearing masks ‘properly’ even after NEA explains

Singapore —  Hawker Wang Rongfu says he was fined $300 on Nov 14 for pulling down his mask in order to taste the food he was cooking at Geylang Bahru Market and Food Centre.

Mr Wang’s wife, who works alongside him, says that she was also fined the same amount earlier that day because her mask had slipped under her nose.

Move over, Starbucks, Ella the robot barista is onboarding from Singapore to Japan

Singapore — The future of coffee seems to have gone global, with a fully autonomous barista making the leap from Singapore to Japan.

Ella, which can be found locally at Plaza Singapura and Crown Coffee, will be brewing and serving up as many as 200 cups per hour in kiosks in a test run at Tokyo and Yokohama Stations, that goes on till Feb 28 next year. The trial began on Wednesday.

Tommy Koh: Why US does not consider S’pore a ‘true democracy’

Singapore – Singapore’s exclusion from the guest list of the ongoing US Summit for Democracy is not the first time that the US has snubbed the Republic.

When Bill Clinton, a Democrat like current US President Joe Biden, was president, he also did not invite Singapore when he launched an equivalent gathering of democracies,  said Ambassador-at-Large Tommy Koh.
