A 24-year-old Filipino maid ran away after being with her employers for four months. In an anonymous post to Facebook group FDW in Singapore (working conditions forum), her employers wrote that she ran away to HOME, the Humanitarian Organization for Migration Economics.

The employers added that she had been “very turned off most of the time when with us and cannot remember things or take instructions. She is 24 year old Filipino, yet cannot understand English well”.

Father stabs daughter to death over her S$200,000 debt from addiction to online shopping

A woman racked up debts of over S$200,000 from online shopping, forcing her father to use up his savings and take loans to repay the amount owed. He eventually stabbed her to death during an argument over the money.

Liu Juan (not her real name), 30, developed an addiction to online shopping in 2019. It was reported that packages were delivered to their home daily, with a new one arriving even before the previous delivery could be opened.

‘A man with no moral and values’ — Netizens condemn man who raped maid multiple times while his family was out

A man was sentenced on Wednesday (Nov 15) to 24 years in jail for repeatedly raping their domestic helper from Indonesia while his wife and children were out of the house. The sexual assault occurred between September and October 2020. Aside from the 24-year jail sentence, the man, who was 34 when he raped the helper, was also given 24 strokes of the cane.

The assault on the helper ended when she, then 24, called her agent, who told her that if she filed a report she would not be banned from working in Singapore, The Straits Times reported. However, the assault also left lasting emotional scars on the woman. She lost two other jobs and was blamed by her family and boyfriend for getting raped.

The men discussed their wife-sharing fantasies online and conspired to rape each other’s wives, exposing them to unwanted pregnancies and sexual diseases, added Justice Pang. It is the role and duty of a husband to love, cherish and protect his wife. “This is a betrayal of trust of the most egregious kind,” he said.
