This was “one of the most astonishing and atrocious cases of sexual assault to ever come before this court,” said Justice Pang Khang Chau on four men who plotted to rape their drugged wives.
The men discussed their wife-sharing fantasies online and conspired to rape each other’s wives, exposing them to unwanted pregnancies and sexual diseases, added Justice Pang. It is the role and duty of a husband to love, cherish and protect his wife. “This is a betrayal of trust of the most egregious kind,” he said.
The case is “a long-lasting campaign involving a wide web of victims” that’s been ongoing for nearly a decade. The men, who cannot be named due to gag orders protecting the victims’ identities, were part of a group of seven men involved in the wife-sharing rape saga.
K, 44, was married with no children. He worked in business development at the time of the offences, reported Channel News Asia.
L, 53, was married with three children and was a business development manager at the time.
M, 45, had three children with his ex-wife and was a company director.
N, 37, was single and worked as a food delivery staff.
A fifth man, J, 41, has four children with his wife. His case is pending.
It was reported that J’s wife was raped multiple times in seven years by different men. She was unconscious, blindfolded and drugged when the assault happened. She later discovered images of herself naked in a chat on her husband’s phone, bringing light to the offences.
J first tried asking his wife if she was interested in a threesome, but she refused. He then joined the plan to sedate her before the other accomplices raped her.
The men met each other as early as 2010 on the Sammyboy forum and other platforms for wife-sharing fantasies.
K also drugged his wife, raped her and offered her to J to do the same.
L asked another man, P, to rape his wife, but P failed as he had erectile dysfunction. P was sentenced for his involvement in January.
M expressed interest in having sex with J’s wife, so J drugged his wife and called M over.
M then invited his ex-wife to J’s place for “networking purposes.” While at the venue, J spiked her drink before molesting and raping her.
N raped J’s wife between 2017 and 2018, reports noted.
K, L, M and N pleaded guilty to two charges each of conspiracy to rape last month. Other charges were considered during sentencing.
On Wednesday (Nov 16), K was sentenced to 22 years in jail and 20 strokes of the cane. L was sentenced to 13 years and six months in jail, while M was given 20 years and 20 strokes of the cane. N was sentenced to 18 years in jail and 20 strokes of the cane.
The prosecution called the cases “unprecedented” and “abominable” asking for between 19 and 23 years in jail and 24 strokes for K and M. They asked for between 11 and 16.5 years for L, plus six months in lieu of caning and between 17 and 21 years and 24 strokes for N.
N’s lawyer asked for a lower sentence for his client, noting he did not have a wife to offer up to be raped. However, the prosecution noted this was not a mitigating factor as he was not married and could not have offered a wife.
The cases of J and O are currently pending. /TISG
