A woman was allegedly called a b*tch by a food stall staff after asking why they needed to finish their meal by 9:20 pm despite the posted 9:30 pm closing time.

Complaint Singapore Facebook page member Soe Myat Myo Shwe shared their experience while patronising King of Prawn Noodles 蝦面王, located in E! Hub at 1 Pasir Ris Close.

After placing their orders on Sunday (April 17) at about 8:46 pm, the stall’s cashier allegedly informed them that they had to finish the meal at 9:20 pm.

This was the conversation as written by Ms Shwe.

Ms Shwe: Oh, I’ll try. I thought the restaurant closes at 10 pm.

Cashier: Ya, but we need time to clean up.

Ms Shwe: Okay, we will do our best. It will also depend on when the food is ready, though.

Upon claiming her order, the cashier reminded Ms Shwe once more and pointed to the notice posted at the stall.

Ms Shwe then wondered why there was a discrepancy between the notice and the 10 pm closing time on Google.

“Why are you insisting that we finish at 9:20 pm?” she asked.

“We also need time to clean up. You don’t want to be demanding b*tch, right?” the cashier responded.

“Did you just call me a b*tch?” asked the shocked Ms Shwe, to which the cashier replied, “You want to hear it again? I am not going to say that.”

At this point, Ms Shwe’s friend came up to the counter to claim her order and joined in on the conversation.

They asked the cashier to apologise.

“I am not going to apologise to her,” the cashier replied.

He also denied giving his name when they asked.

“Can I see your manager?” Ms Shwe continued. “He’s not around,” said the cashier.

By this time, bystanders had also stepped in and insisted that the cashier apologises.

“He apologised, (rolling his eyes). I did not see him roll his eyes, my friend did, so she kept on insisting that his behaviour was not acceptable,” said Ms Shwe.

She then decided to walk away as she no longer wanted to stay infuriated.

“The food was delicious. But I’m not gonna return. Ever,” said Ms Shwe.

She also attached a screenshot of her conversation with the stall’s Facebook page through Messenger.

After extending an apology, the page moderator said, “Okay, as the person in the photo is not our perm staff, he is a temp, therefore not in uniform. Of course, understand that it still doesn’t excuse such behaviour. I’m so sorry to hear this, and we will check immediately.”

According to netizens’ comments, they too had negative experiences at the restaurant’s other outlets.

“I had a very bad experience w this 虾面王 at Hillion Mall outlet when they first opened, 1st & last time visiting this eatery! Food is horrible; there are plentiful delicious prawn noodles elsewhere!” said Facebook user Yai Pei Ling.

“I will never step in the outlet at Hillion mall. There is one time I go in the shop. The staff ask me to buy food first before I can sit down in the shop,” said Facebook user Sichun Want.

“I was thinking, what if I buy the food and I could not get a seat. After what the staff say, I just walk away and never will I step in the shop again.”

One Weney Wong agreed with Ms Shwe, noting they too ate at the stall that night. “My family also ate at this very same outlet, on the same day as you and your friend as well, but left an hour earlier before you arrived. Similar negative experience received from this guy cashier towards my husband!”
