In Parliament: Chee Hong Tat says gov’t to consider more assistance & support, especially if inflation ‘worsens further’

 

Senior Minister of State for Finance Chee Hong Tat said in Parliament on Monday (Oct 3) that the government is “carefully monitoring” rising living costs due to inflation and will consider providing additional assistance if the situation “worsens further”.

The Minister answered a question posed by MP Ang Wei Neng (West Coast GRC), who had asked if vouchers could be given to Singaporeans older than 21 years old, as opposed to every household. He also asked if the government would consider giving additional vouchers to larger households.

A man faces up to five years imprisonment if found guilty of bribing a nurse to alter his medical records to show he had received his second Covid-19 vaccination when he had not.

Kelvin Tan Li Ming, 35, went to court on Monday (Oct 3) over a single charge of offering S$50 bribe to part-time vaccination nurse Ms Eunice Lee En Hui at the Healthway Vaccination Centre at Choa Chu Kang Community Club.

Netizen says he cringed while reading ST article boasting about Singapore’s achievements in semiconductor industry

A Facebook post from Mr Foong Swee Fong wherein he writes that Singapore has “nothing to boast about” in terms of achievements in the semiconductor industry from Sunday (Oct 2) has gone on to be widely shared online.

“Taiwan, Korea, and Japan can rightfully be proud of their homegrown semiconductor giants, but Singapore, in this respect, has nothing to boast about as it is just riding on the coattails of foreign MNCs,” he wrote.
