Carousell phishing scam! — At least 72 victims have fallen for it since Jan, over $109,000 lost

The Singapore Police Force (SPF) reminds the public to practise extra caution amid the re-emergence of a phishing scam variant.

Families have lost their life savings to such phishing scams, sparking a call for extra vigilance. Just last week, scammers tried enticing POSB customers to reveal personal information through an email “survey”, promising them a cash reward. DBS has since confirmed that the email is not legitimate.

Maid filmed abusing elderly man, hitting his head and pulling his arms

A video of a foreign domestic helper abusing an elderly man at a park was circulated on social media.

In a post to the Suara Kita SG Facebook group on Tuesday (Mar 1), the helper was seen abusing the elderly man at an HDB pavilion in Queenstown. The man who submitted the video captioned that at 2.30 pm his wife caught the helper in the act of abusing an elderly man in a wheelchair.

Rents in Singapore up 9.9%, now at seven-year high

Living in one of the world’s most expensive cities has become  even more expensive, with the rental price index of Singapore up by nearly 10 per cent.

The Economist Intelligence Unit ranked Singapore alongside Paris as the second most expensive city in the world for 2021,  outranked only by Tel Aviv, Israel.

Scam Alert: Man uses durian as bait, cheating people of their money

A man who cheated another man of five boxes of durian but failed to deliver the order was charged in court on Thursday (Mar 3).

The man, Ho Teck Lai, 31, is believed to be involved in similar cases where he posed as an online durian seller, cheating buyers of their cash.

Maid seeks transfer, difficult employer demands she pay back $6K hiring cost

A foreign domestic worker is asking how she can help a fellow worker facing a tough situation She asked other employers and helpers in the group for advice and help.

The woman, who goes by the name of Eliz Morante Domingo LIanillo, posted the appeal in a Facebook group called ‘FDW in Singapore (working conditions forum)‘ and said she was doing so on behalf of a friend.
