The police in the city of Chandigarh near the capital of India are on the hunt for a young masseur, believed to be in his 20s, who allegedly sexually assaulted a British Tourist while giving her a massage, days before Christmas.

The tourist, who visited the hotel’s foot spa on Dec 20, reported to the police that the masseur touched her private parts inappropriately without consent during the massage.

The tourist was taken to the hospital for a medical examination and the police recorded her statement was recorded in front of a magistrate.

As the police investigate and registered the case under rape charges according to India’s amended rape laws, the suspect fled Chandigarh. Deputy Superintendent of Police, Harjeet Kaur, told the local press:

“We have booked the accused under rape charges as the woman alleged in her complaint that the accused touched her inappropriately and inserted his fingers into her vagina while giving her the massage.

“We haven’t arrested the accused yet as he has absconded. We are investigating the case and very soon the accused will be arrested.”

Curiously, another British tourist was allegedly raped in the resort state of Goa on the very same day. The police presently believe that the cases are un-linked.
