‘It is bittersweet’ — Kit Chan says as The LKY Musical ended

Kit Chan, a singer and actress who starred in one of the most successful Singaporean theatre shows watched by over 50,000 people – The LKY Musical – shared her final sentiments about the play as it came to an end on October  2.

She said that together with the cast, they celebrated the end of their run with a party and sang songs from the show. Ms Chan also mentioned that when she woke up the next morning, she had dreams about the play.

“Such is the nature of the relationship between the performer and the stage. It is a bond, and it enslaves us sometimes, and we are glad to be rid of it, but also miss it when it is ended,” said Kit Chan.

The singer and actress pointed out that she will not only miss the stage but also the backstage where the show’s behind-the-scenes takes place.

“Perhaps it is not so much the stage that I miss, but the backstage, that secret private enclave where access is only given to select few…”

“This is where we prepare for our roles, and where the transformation that allows us to become the people we play on stage takes place,” she added.

“I’m so proud of all of you, and I’m so grateful to have been on this journey with you!” she said.
