Harry Potter actor, Tom Felton collapses during Ryder Cup

United States ― During a celebrity event before the Ryder Cup golf matches, Harry Potter star Tom Felton collapsed, and he had to be taken from the Whistling Straits course on a cart.

It appeared that he had an apparent medical problem. However, there is no further information on Felton’s condition and what triggered the episode.

Tournament organisers, the PGA of America, said that Felton was taken to the hospital, but they had no further detail about his well-being.

“In today’s Ryder Cup Celebrity Match, actor and musician Tom Felton experienced a medical incident on the course while participating for Europe,“ the PGA of America said in a statement.

“He was transported to a local hospital for treatment. No further details are available.”

The British actor, who turned 34 on Wednesday, was conscious when he was taken from the course, as reported by The Sun Daily via AFP.

A keen golfer, he played alongside Finnish NHL player Teemu Selanne against two US Olympic champions ― 1980 ice hockey gold medallist Mike Eurzione and speed skater Dan Jansen ― in one of the three 11-hole matches that made up the celebrity tournament.

The actor gained fame playing Harry Potter’s rival Draco Malfoy in the film adaptations of the popular “Harry Potter” book series.

He portrayed Louis T. Leonowens in Anna and the King (1999) before being cast in Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone (2001). Felton appeared in seven sequels until the final film, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2 (2011).

Felton appeared in the sci-fi film Rise of the Planet of the Apes (2011) to commercial success. He was subsequently cast in indie films From the Rough (2011) and The Apparition (2012). /TISG
