A 29-year-old police officer from the Singapore Police Force was discovered near 1 Bayfront Avenue with a gunshot wound and was later declared deceased. The tragic event has drawn widespread attention, as authorities ruled out foul play yet continue their investigations. The scene painted a grim picture, with a firearm discovered and promptly seized.

The Police said in response to media queries: “On Sep 19, 2022, at 9.44am, a 29-year-old police officer from Central Police Division was found with a gunshot wound along 1 Bayfront Avenue. “He was subsequently pronounced dead. A firearm was found at scene and seized.”

BERITA, the Malay media channel from mediacorp, which was first to report the incident, said that it received information about the incident via Whatsapp, with two pictures uploaded.

An individual who was in the area claimed to have seen the incident. The first picture showed a man lying on the MBS Boardwalk and a gun found near the man. Another photo shows a police car near the location where the man was found.

Local Chinese media, Zaobao, further reported that the officer had also fired two shots into the air. He was also reportedly conveyed to the hospital unconscious, where he died of his injuries, the newspaper reported.
