Singapore—A netizen named Kishore Shan posted a video on the crowdsourced Facebook page All Singapore Stuff of a Grab driver who had made a racist remark on July 26. Mr Kishore has already reported the driver, and Grab told online media outlet Stomp that the matter is already under investigation.
However, commenters on social media have questioned the passenger, asking him what he did to have triggered the driver to into making such a remark, and why he took the Grab in the first place, knowing he did not have enough money to pay the fare.

Mr Kishore answered their comments by narrating the events of July 26. Apparently he was on his way from Bencoolen to Farrer Park, and the fare was S$6. Since he only had S$5 on him, he told the Grab driver that he would be receiving money from a client at the drop-off point and that the driver would not wait longer than two minutes for the rest of the payment.
The driver replied that he could not do this, and said that it would cost him extra, which is when the driver replied with a vulgarity, which can be heard on the video on All Singapore Stuff.
Mr Kishore started recording the conversation, the latter part of which occurred when they were driving through Little India. He wrote that the driver “continued saying fuck you and then the main part which was recorded while the vehicle was at Little India. He said fuck Indians.
So what you guys wanted me to do drag him out and fight with him and put myself behind bars. It’s easy to comment behind screens.”
Mr Kishore insisted that he has “nothing to lie about.”
“Many like to cook up stories, this is the true facts if you those ppl who are accusing me and who are very keen to know, this is the actual fact, I was shocked that he was hurling me with words that is not acceptable, that’s why I said say it louder. I have nothing to lie about. This is what happen, I took a grab from the bencoolen to farrer park the fare was 6 bucks. So will going to my destination, I told him. I am short of $1, but not to worry my client is waiting for me and I will be receiving money from him at the drop off place and I will pass you and it would not even take more then 2 mins.
His response was cannot, i asked him what do you mean cannot you must pay extra $5. I was like its not even 2 mins
He replied fuck you. Then I was like sorry ?

A Grab spokesman is quoted by Stomp as saying, “We are aware of this and are currently in touch with both parties to investigate the matter.
There is no room for discrimination on our platform, and we strongly encourage all driver-partners and passengers to treat one another with respect and kindness.”/ TISG
