Vivian Balakrishnan: Russia-Ukraine invasion is a clear & gross violation of intl norms —  S’pore has important lessons to learn from the crisis

Foreign Minister Vivian Balakrishnan commented on Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, calling it a “clear and gross” violation of international norms and a completely unacceptable precedent.

In his ministerial statement delivered in Parliament on Monday (Feb 28), Dr Balakrishnan explained the incidents leading up to the invasion of Ukraine on Feb 24.

Insensitive security guard chases away man helping his elderly father onto wheelchair because they stopped along a single yellow zigzag

An insensitive security guard was caught on camera telling off a man who had stopped his lorry along a single yellow zigzag line at Tan Tock Seng Hospital (TTSH) on Thursday (Feb 24).

It was a rainy day that morning as one @Benedict Yeo on TikTok sent his wife to work. The dashcam on his motorbike captured the incident, which he posted on social media. As his wife stood at the drop-off to take off her raincoat, the camera captured the scene.

Javan Mynas flock & feast leftovers on tables at Sengkang Square Kopitiam

Netizen Joshua Chen ranted about Javan Mynas that flocked and feasted on leftovers on tables at Sengkang Square Kopitiam via the Facebook group Complaint Singapore.

Mr Chen expressed his dismay in his post and called out, “HELLO National Environment Agency (NEA) AND Kopitiam & Foodfare. WHY IS THERE MANY BURD ATTACK THE FOOD AT SENGKANG SWUARE. VERY DIRTY DISGUSTING. HOW CAN THIS BE ALLOW??”

Could Singapore’s foreign policies allow more than just a verbal condemnation of the Russian-Ukraine invasion?

This week has been one where Singapore’s position in international relations should be examined. While no stranger to hosting international events, authorities in Singapore have often cited the “we are a small country” rhetoric every time they are asked to take a stand on anything.

So what do we make of Singapore’s official position in the face of the continuing Russian invasion of Ukraine? One can view the attack on Ukraine as a faraway problem, but Singapore simply cannot afford to be complacent on this issue.

Mysterious watermelon falling from “Jurong sky” causes shock to car driver as it cracks his windshield

Incidents of falling trees onto parked vehicles due to strong winds are commonly heard of, but falling watermelons? Now that’s another story, and of course, it’s just utterly ridiculous!

A 61-year-old private-hire driver was passing near Block 966 Jurong West Drive 93 on Friday morning (Feb 25) when a heavy object landed on his vehicle.

Imagine the driver’s shock when he alights the vehicle and realizes that the object is a watermelon.
