“Can’t blame riders for leaking food. Blame packing stuff… or humps & potholes in the road” — Netizens weigh in on food delivery disaster

In response to an online citizen’s post over allegedly receiving a food delivery that opened in transit, spilling food in the packaging, other netizens have weighed in on the matter, saying that the person should instead blame the restaurant packaging or even… the government for the potholes in the road.

“If you paid S$16 bucks, would you accept this?” wrote an online user, sharing a photo of a plastic bag containing an opened food package, its contents mixed up and spilt out into the bag.

Netizens took different sides in response to the thread, with some saying that the post’s author could just send a picture to Grab and get a refund and others saying that the rider shouldn’t be blamed.

“Sometimes customers should understand what problems the riders face each day whenever they do orders,” wrote one, “First of all, don’t blame the rider. Second, don’t expect (food to) arrive (too) fast. Third, call the restaurant and ask how they packed your food, and lastly, go and ask the government why the road (has) many, many holes…”

To this, the post’s author replied, “I myself (am a) grab rider, bro.” The individual then questioned if riders really don’t see when a box opens ad spills when they get off their bikes.

Others called for the netizen to instead blame other factors. “Blame the high hump on the road or car park,” wrote one. “I confirmed blame with the customer who complained,” another said. “Riders’ safety is important. Roads that have humps cause leakage. You can’t blame riders for leaking that food that way. Blame (it) on the packing stuff.”
