Jipson Quah, a General Practitioner with links to the controversial Healing the Divide group, has been suspended by the Singapore Medical Council (SMC) for 18 months or until proceedings looking into allegations against him are concluded.
Dr Quah, 33, has been accused of injecting patients with saline solution instead of the Covid-19 vaccine. He also reportedly uploaded false vaccination statuses to the National Immunisation Registry of the Ministry of Health (MOH).
The SMC announced this in a statement released on Monday (Mar 28), writing that it had received a complaint against Dr Quah from MOH on Jan 23.
“Dr Quah’s actions carry public health consequences and show his failure to maintain the highest standards of moral integrity and intellectual honesty and to protect and promote the health of individuals and the community,” SMC wrote.
The complaint alleged that Dr Quah had facilitated the upload of Pre-EventTesting (PET) results on a MOH portal that had been obtained through a “remote” PET that did not comply with regulations.
He is also said to have created a fake patient account and uploaded a false ART result for this unvaccinated patient, issuing an exemption letter so that the patient could be exempted from vaccination-differentiated safe management measures.
Moreover, the complaint states that he “grossly overcharged” patients who were given the saline solution instead of the Covid-19 vaccine.
MOH’s complaint has been referred to an Interim Orders Committee (IOC). An independent Complaints Committee has also been appointed to look into the complaint.
The IOC said on Mar 23 that it was necessary for Dr Quah to be suspended from practising medicine for 18 months or until the investigation of the Complaints Committee is accomplished, whichever is sooner, “for the protection of members of the public and in the public interest.”
Thomas Chua Cheng Soon, Dr Quah’s assistant, was charged in January with engaging in a conspiracy to cheat MOH.
Iris Koh, the founder of Healing the Divide, is currently facing two charges.
On Jan 28, Koh was charged with conspiring with Dr Quah to defraud the Health Ministry by having certain people certified to have received the Sinopharm vaccinations when they had not.
On Feb 4, she was charged with obstructing a police inspector from discharging her duties. She allegedly tore up a printed copy of her statement, which had been recorded on Jan 25 at the Police Cantonment Complex.
