Singapore — A woman wrote to the NUS Whispers Facebook page on Tuesday (Dec 14) wondering if she should quit her newly-acquired job as an event’s organiser after her firm had her attend a CPR+AED course with three other new hires.
The woman wrote that toward the end of the session, “the male instructor wanted to demonstrate how males can perform CPR and AED on females. I was 1 of only 3 girls present out of the 15 people in the class so he selected me.”
CPR or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation is an emergency procedure applied when someone stops breathing or if their heart stops. CPR training is often done in tandem with training in the use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED).
And while the CPR training was performed appropriately, and the woman said the trainer had been very professional while “having minimal contact” with her chest, but when it came to the part where the AED was used, things were different.
“He stressed that it was very important to remove all clothing before applying the pads.”
She alleged that the man proceeded to remove her shirt and bra, exposing her breasts to the other participants.
The woman wrote that she was “frozen in shock” at that point.
The trainer allegedly tried to cover up his actions by saying, “modesty is worthless if the person is dead, saving her life is the priority.”
“While I agree with his statements, and concede that he did not touch me inappropriately, I still felt humiliated and wished he hadn’t done it. My embarrassment intensified when I overheard my 3 male colleagues discussing me in lewd terms after the class,” she wrote, before asking, “is this worth quitting over?”
“It took me 6 months of applications and interviews to land a job so I really don’t want to, but I just feel miserable thinking about having to work with three creeps who have a twisted perception of me,” the poster added.
Many netizens told her that she should report the incident to the police.
However, some commenters expressed doubt over the veracity of the story.
