Rosmah Mansor, the controversial wife of Malaysia’s former Prime Minister Najib Razak had been summoned to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) headquarters in Putrajaya for a second round of questioning in connection with a probe into SRC International, a former subsidiary of the 1 Malaysia Development Board (1MDB) on Wednesday, 26 September. She arrived at about 9.50 am, dressed in a bright green coloured baju kurung and accompanied by the police, her lawyer K.Kumaraendran and an asistant. A huge crowd of reporters had been waiting since about 7 am for her arrival.

Her presence at the MACC headquarters had come a day after her son Riza Aziz had been called for questioning. Elsewhere her husband Najib Razak has had three appointments with the MACC so far and has been instructed to testify before the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) about the 19.4 billion ringgit in missing Goods and Sales Tax (GST) refunds on 17 October 2018.

Rosmah Mansor was seen to be in a cheerful mood as she talked to the MACC officers who had waited for her at the lobby of the MACC headquarters building. Last Monday, 24 September MACC chief Shukri Abdull told reporters that MACC had completed their investigations on Rosmah Mansor’s involvement over alleged theft and money laundering involving 1MDB. The report on the investigations had been submitted to the Attorney-General’s office and they are awaiting the Attorney-General’s decision to prosecute her.

Strong rumours abound that Rosmah Mansor would be arrested on Wednesday, 26 September and charged in court the following day on Thursday, 27 September. When asked by the press, her lawyer K.Kumaraendran claimed that he had no knowledge of such a rumour. This was further confirmed by Azam Baki, deputy commissioner of MACC (Operations) who stressed that the rumour was not true. News Straits Times had previously reported that Rosmah Mansor may be looking at more than 20 criminal charges very soon.

Prior to this latest questioning by MACC, Rosmah Mansor had been called by the MACC to have her statement recorded on fifth June. Like her husband Najib Razak, she has been barred from leaving Malaysia and has had her home and other properties searched by the police as part of the 1MDB investigations.
