Singapore – What started as a piece of seemingly friendly advice to use the handicap toilet turned out to be a traumatic experience for two ladies at Clarke Quay.

On July 24 (Wednesday), @isabelleameliatan (a.k.a. Belle) shared her experience via Instagram that involved the dangers of using handicap toilets, especially to ladies.

Belle and her friend, Jane, were on their way to the toilet when they were approached by a man who advised them to use the accessible toilet instead.

“Hey use the handicap toilet, the girl’s toilet is full,” said the man to the ladies.

Belle and Jane thought nothing of the matter at first. “Perhaps the man’s girlfriend took really long, and he was just drunk and being nice,” Belle thought.

When the man started following them, the ladies began realizing something was wrong.

They quickly checked the toilet if it had been bugged with a camera or other device.

“There wasn’t any, so we just continued with our business,” shared Belle.

While using the toilet, Belle noticed that the door was ajar, so she told Jane to lock it properly.

What happened next was an occurrence similar to any typical horror story.

While it was Jane’s turn, Belle saw through the mirror reflection as she was washing her hands, that the lock was slowly turning by itself.

“I immediately yanked the door closed,” said Belle. However, she was met with force, and the door was pulled open from the outside.

Quick on her senses, Belle ran after the pervert, grabbed his belongings and called the police before he got away.

“So apparently, he allegedly tried to open our door with a 20 cent coin,” said Belle.

“That’s honestly so, so scary,” she added.

The alleged pervert suggested the handicap toilet because they are specifically designed to be able to be opened from the outside in case of an emergency.

“Obviously there are perverts in this world that would do anything just to see what they want to see,” wrote Belle in her post.

She went on to warn everyone to be extra cautious of their surroundings, even when intoxicated.

Belle also thanked the bouncers and door girl of Yang International Asian Club for helping detain the suspect until the police arrived.

According to Belle’s follow-up Instagram stories, investigations are ongoing.

It was reported by Mothership that a 21-year-old man related to the case had been arrested.
