A young woman who sells clothes on Carousell issued an anonymous warning online about a buyer who said he’d pay a lot for his order and then tried to trick her into sending him photos that were more and more revealing.
She wrote in a post published on the Instagram account @adminsgfollowsalll on Sept 3 (Saturday) that she had already sent the man some photos before she realised what he was doing.
The young woman shared screenshots of her message exchanges with the buyer as a warning to others to not fall into the same trap.
“I hope that if this happens to any other girls they won’t make the same mistake that I did. I feel super ashamed and wouldn’t wish this to happen to anyone else.
It’s really scary knowing that a stranger has photos of me in revealing clothes because I was too gullible to realise his true intentions from the start. Be safe ladies.”
The teenager said that the man had seemed really genuine about his thrift shop, and so she asked if he wanted to see clothes that might sell well there.
At first she only sent photos of the clothes, but the man then asked for pictures of her trying them on.
The man gave her high quotes for the clothes, explaining that he would buy a minimum of $700 to $800.
After sending pics of more clothes he asked for try ons of all the clothes saying that he’ll pay me more for the try on pictures.”
She wrote that she should have gotten suspicious at that point, but by then it was already 2 am and she was “really tired.”
“After sending more try ons which I assumed was going to be used for advertising the clothes, he asked for more try ons but without a bra or with a thong. I denied the request for the picture without a bra because then what would be covering my chest area?,” the young woman added.
But the man answered back by saying he needed to reach the minimum order or he couldn’t buy the clothes from her “and a lot of other nonsense.”
More red flags were set off for the young woman when the man asked for a picture of her bending over.
“That’s when I realised and just went to sleep,” she wrote.
She also posted her final message to the man, telling him off.
