After hearing a thud on their doorstep, a family in Sengkang were surprised to see broken eggs splattered all over their home entrance.

Following two incidents of egg throwing, the family was advised by police to bring the matter to court as they could only talk to the suspect, a woman living on the floor below them.

“I was watching TV with a normal volume at 11:50 pm, not loud or anything, and I heard a loud thud on my door. So naturally, I went to check, and when I opened my door, there was an egg splattered at the doorstep,” shared an Instagram page @adminsgfollowsall follower.

The resident alerted his parents, and they called the police to investigate.

Fortunately, their neighbour was nice enough to provide them with CCTV footage, capturing a woman deliberately throwing an egg at their door.

“We were confused because we never saw this woman or talked to her before, so we did not know what her intent(ion) was.”

“The policemen just told us to call them if it happened again and left.”

Two weeks later, on July 29, the resident had just left for school when the woman attacked once more, this time throwing four eggs at their doorstep.

“So we alerted the police again, and my neighbour told us it was a woman living below our floor but not directly under our unit.”

Even with the video footage used as evidence, the woman claimed she never did anything.

However, the police said, “this was all they can do and told us to take it to court with our own lawyers.”

On top of having to clean up their doorstep area, the resident said the incident had caused his parents “much mental stress.”

“Even the electronic lock on our door has been slightly damaged,” the resident added.

Netizens wondered why the police couldn’t apprehend the woman even with the evidence.

“So sad, right even with evidence, the police keep saying that’s all they can do. No punishment or warning, fines, etc?” asked Instagram user @gab_filters.

A netizen explained that the incident was “not a criminal offence to warrant an arrest. This has to go through civil court.” /TISG
