UPDATE: The Police have confirmed that they have arrested a 45-year-old woman after she made a scene at a shop in Owndays Tiong Bahru Plaza on Monday (Apr 3). Police said they were alerted to the incident just before 10 pm and that investigations are ongoing.

Facebook user Gerald Teo shared a video of an Indian woman repeatedly hitting two Chinese salesgirls over a dispute. It is unclear where or when the incident happened, but some netizens have suggested that it happened in a spectacle shop in Owndays Tiong Bahru Plaza.

Even the shopping mall’s security officers who intervened could not stop the angry woman. When the security officer asked why she was upset, the woman claimed that the salesgirl took her bracelet. But she was wearing the bracelet in her hand earlier in the video. Sometime later, she went into a booth, and when she came out the bracelet was missing.

The woman can be heard saying in the video “I’m done with this Chinese girls, they keep cheating me in this neighborhood.”

When the security officer asked the salesgirl what the dispute was about, the salesgirl can be heard saying that she doesn’t know and that she was only a “passenger” (bystander?).

When a passerby tried to intervene and ask her to stop hitting the salesgirls, the woman starting scolding in vulgar language.

When she noticed that the salesgirls were videoing her, the woman got even more furious and said that they can call the police or the “Black Cats”. The Black Cats are the Indian Government’s special forces unit.

Netizens who watched the video expressed outrage and described the woman as a racist. Many suggested that she should be firmly dealt with by the authorities.
