A mother took to social media to appeal for witnesses after her son got hit by a car while crossing the road.

Facebook page SG Road Vigilante shared the plight of a concerned mother whose son, currently in Primary 6, was involved in an accident at the junction of Choa Chu Kang Avenue 1 and 7 on Monday (Sep 12).

“Any witnesses, please come forward. My son got hit by a car while crossing at the traffic light junction,” said the mother.

“Driver said the green light was in her favour but very reluctant to share her dashboard camera recording earlier on.”

The mother confirmed that her son was out of danger, but injured his head and broke his knee.

Netizens explained that the driver involved could refuse to share the dashboard camera footage.

“Sorry to say, she has the right not to share with you,” said Facebook user Huracan Lee. “She can only share with the police and insurer on this.”

Others advised the mother to report the accident to the police, so they could seize the camera footage for evidence.

“Any police cam within the junction? Check her dashcam if that is what she claimed, and also, shouldn’t she be stopping if anyone walking in front, common sense? Speedy recovery,” added Facebook user Kamen Jose.

The mother said in a comment that they were disappointed at the young driver and her mother who weren’t “willing to even share what actually happened like which direction was the driver coming from and where my son was hit.”

She explained that when she arrived at the scene, her son was lying at the end of the kerb of the traffic light that he was heading to. “Did anyone move him to the side?” she asked.

“Traffic IO also not helpful when I try to reason out with him because what he told me doesn’t make sense and accused me that I was in denial that my son was wrong to cross at red man flashing even when he sees there is no car.”

“But can’t the car see that my son was crossing? I am just trying to understand the whole situation for my sanity, that’s all,” she added.
