Singapore property market starts on a good note in 2022 — Report

In spite of new property tax rates, possible inflation coming hand in hand with a recession and/or an unemployment hike due to Russia’s attack on Ukraine, and upcoming interest rate hikes, the property market in Singapore for the first quarter of this year “started off on a good note.”

The rental market for the next quarter is likely to remain high, especially with pandemic restrictions eased and foreigners expected to return to the country, according to PropertyGuru’s Singapore Property Market Report Q2 2022.

Will Loh Kean Yew win his first SEA Games gold in Hanoi? SG champ advances to semis

Badminton champion Loh Kean Yew is off to a good start in this year’s South East Asian Games in Hanoi, Vietnam. He won his first men’s singles match on Thursday against Malaysia’s Kok Jing Hong, as well as his second against the Philippines Jewel Angelo Albo in the quarter-finals on Friday (May 20).

Loh, 24, is currently ranked No. 10 in the world, and next faces Vietnam’s Nguyen Tien Minh. And while Loh is guaranteed at least a joint-bronze medal, he is hoping to better his 2019 silver medal men’s singles finish, gunning for the gold this time around.

Rider rescues black cat from Bartley Road underpass, seeking information on owners or possible fosters

A kind and alert stranger riding along the Bartley Road underpass spotted a black cat which looked very much like Toothless from How to Train Your Dragon. As the cat could not be tracked, the rider took to social media in hopes of finding more information on the feline’s owners and possible adopters.

“I found this beautiful, thick and long coat black cat on the side of Bartley Road underpass,” wrote Zamani Zamri, a member of the Facebook page Sayang Our Singapore’s Community Cats.

Goh Chok Tong says he turns his back on time, recycles himself as an 18-year-old

 

On his 81st birthday, Goh Chok Tong wrote that he had decided to turn his back on time.

The Emeritus Senior Minister added: “I recycle myself as an 18-year old teenager”. In a Facebook post on Friday (May 20), Mr Goh said that one’s attitude to life determines their age, not a biological or chronological clock.
