Former GIC chief economist Lam Keong Yeoh voiced his disagreement in a Facebook post to an Aug 2 (Tuesday) speech in Parliament by Manpower Minister Tan See Leng regarding Central Provident Fund (CPF) interest rates.

The minister said that CPF members earn higher interest rates on their savings than local banks and securities since the CPF Board places a greater emphasis on the long term.

Workers’ Party MP Jamus Lim weighed in on the S$7.4 billion loss recorded by the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) for the last financial year, saying he saw no fault with MAS for these losses.

The Sengkang GRC Member of Parliament is an Associate Professor of Economics at ESSEC Business School. He is currently at Stanford University in the United States on a summer fellowship.

5-Star Grab driver of 10 years banned indefinitely after passenger complains she got uncomfortable with ‘inappropriate’ questions he asked

In a video that has now gone viral, a TikTok user wrote that their father, a longtime Grab driver who has consistently gotten high ratings from his customers, was recently banned indefinitely via email after one passenger complained about the questions he asked.

Although Grab’s decision to ban him was appealed, the company stood by its decision.
