Singapore – Ang Mo Kio’s AMK Hub will be welcoming A&W’s second branch in July 2019.
The American fast-food chain, A&W will open a larger branch at AMK Hub in July and a third outlet in 2020, reported The Straits Times.
After its return last month to Singapore, situated at Jewel Changi Airport, A&W is “here to stay.”
The next A&W outlet will have a 142-seating capacity, compared to the Jewel Changi Airport branch’s 80-seating capacity, and is set to start renovations soon.
The AMK Hub outlet will be more “family-oriented” compared to Jewel’s “international” look. Millennials can enjoy the selfie corners that will be set up at the outlet.
The company is also eyeing a retail section that will offer merchandise like T-shirts, pins and caps for their future branches.
According to Kelvin Tan, A&W International’s director of marketing and communication, the following outlets are being established to lighten the crowd at the Jewel Changi Airport branch.
A&W also plans to apply for a halal-certification to the Islamic Religious Council of Singapore (MUIS), said Tan previously to CNA.
“We’re glad to have customers who truly are very patient with us and have been adopting the view that good food deserves the wait,” noted Tan on the snaking queues at the Jewel Changi Airport outlet.
It has been 16 years since the fast-food chain was last seen in Singapore. Having entered the Singapore market in 1966, A&W left in 2003 due to cutthroat competition.
While A&W Restaurants operate with almost 1,000 franchises scattered across ten countries, the Singapore outlets are directly owned by the company.
