Zhao Xiaotian, a 24-year-old former news producer at Mediacorp was sentenced to 2-weeks jail for slapping a police officer. She has appealed the sentence
In an incident which happened in April last year at about 9pm, Zhao a graduate if University of New York, in a drunken stupor stripped naked to take a dip at the Tanjong Beach Club’s swimming pool.
She covered herself when a security guard approached her and asked her to do so, but she stripped down and jumped into the pool again soon after he left.
Zhao turned aggressive when the security guard who returned demanded to see her identity document. That was when the security guard called the police.
When the police officers arrived and asked for her identity documents, Zhao placed her black bikini-top on one of the police officers. When the police officer warned her against it, Zhao gave the police officer a slap.
Zhao put up a fierce struggle when the officers tried to restrain her, and a female police officer had to be called in to assist with her arrest. Zhao continued to shout vulgarities and spit at the police officers when she was placed in the back of the police car after her arrest.
