Netizens praise SCDF heroes who battled flames for six hours after oil tank caught fire at Pulau Busing

Singaporeans have praised the heroes who fought the blazing flames that broke out after an oil tank caught on fire yesterday evening. 128 officers from the Singapore Civil Defense Force (SCDF) bravely fought the intense blaze for about six hours and earned well-deserved praise from Singaporeans.

The incident occurred at Pulau Busing – an island off Singapore’s south coast which holds oil and chemical storage facilities – when an oil storage tank caught on fire. The fire is believed to have started after the oil storage tank was struck by lightning. One netizen named Mzul who claims to have witnessed the incident recounted, “I saw a bolt of lightning strike a tank, setting it on fire.”

The SCDF kept Singaporeans updated on the progress of the firefighting throughout the day as images of the intense fire went viral:
