Traffic Policeman who allegedly identified himself as ‘limpeh’ draws ire of motorist

A Facebook user WMweimin WM shared that a Traffic Policeman (TP) shouted at him at a random roadblock check when he asked why he was stopped for having High Intensity Discharge lights (HID). The user claimed that there were other cars ahead of him with HID that were not stopped by the TP. He got particularly upset when the TP allegedly said that he is ‘Limpeh’ (‘your father’ in Hokkien), that the road belongs to him, and that he can stop whoever he wants.

The user claimed that the TP changed his story when he realised that the dispute was being video recorded, and claimed that the user shouted at him first. The user admits to being loud with the officer but maintains that the officer acted in a manner unbecoming of a police officer.

According to LTA’s guidelines, vehicles should only be fitted with factory fitted HID lamps as they are designed to meet internationally recognised standards. Aftermarket HID lamp kits retrofitted into existing headlamps may cause unwanted glare when used. Therefore, installation of these kits are not allowed.
