Several Twitter users today (15 Aug) shared videos and pictures of thick smoke coming from the train and the station at Tanjong Pagar MRT station. Some said that the smoke appeared when the train door opened.

Commuters said that there was an announcement asking passengers to evacuate the train and that police on train duty helped in the evacuation. According to some Twitter users, SMRT staff told commuters to refrain from taking photos and videos.

Almost an hour after the incident SMRT has not responded as to what caused the smoke. But it said that services at Tanjong Pagar Station has resumed and that the door on platform is ‘under service/repair’.
