An accident had occurred at Tuas checkpoint at about 5.35am this morning (3 Aug), affecting arrival traffic. The Immigrations and Checkpoints Authority (ICA) issued an advisory after the incident asking all arriving motorists to avoid using Tuas checkpoint, and that delays should be expected.

In a press release ICA said that two canopies at the arrival motorcycle and car lanes had fallen due to very strong winds and heavy thunderstorm.

“A Malaysian motorcyclist and his pillion rider were injured and conveyed to Ng Teng Fong hospital,” ICA said.
2Adding: “No drivers from the car zone were injured.”

Clearance of the fallen structure is ongoing and the traffic situation is gradually resuming to normalcy, ICA said in urging motorists who use the Second Link to check for the latest traffic updates via LTA’s One Motoring website or MyTransport.SG portal before they embark on their journey.

For safety reasons, arriving cars and motorcycles will be diverted to other zones for clearance. ICA said that it will not compromise safety and border security because of the incident and asked motorists to cooperate with officers on site.

It further apologised for the inconvenience caused and sought the understanding from travellers using the checkpoint.
