Leong Mun Wai asks MOM who’s responsible for lapses at Westlite migrant workers’ dorm

Singapore — On Monday morning (Nov 1), the Progress Singapore Party posted on its Facebook account the questions its Non-Constituency Members of Parliament will be asking at the session today.

NCMPs Leong Mun Wai will also be bringing up the issue of the vaccination rate for migrant workers who live in dormitories, posing specific questions regards the alleged breach of Covid measures at the Westlite Jalan Tukang dormitory, where an incident of unrest caused riot police to be deployed on Oct 13.

Over 18,000 signatures on petition to save mentally impaired man from death sentence

Singapore — A petition has been started in the hopes of saving a mentally impaired man sentenced to death on Nov 10 for drug trafficking offences.

Malaysian Nagaenthran was arrested for drug trafficking when he was 21 years old and sentenced to death a year later.

PM Lee says SG making progress on COVID front, but netizens express frustration

Singapore — Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, who is currently in Rome due to the G20 Summit, told members of the press on Sunday (Oct 31) that Singapore is “making progress” against Covid, expressing confidence in the country’s reopening.

However, he warned that there may be possible “surprises” along the way, citing the rising number of infections in Western Europe again in certain countries, which authorities are watching closely.

Woman does dirty dancing in front of elderly woman for TikTok video challenge, sparks online backlash

Singapore — A woman, likely a foreign domestic worker, has sparked online backlash for recording herself doing a dirty dancing TikTok video in front of an elderly woman.

A video tagged as “demeaning and insensitive” is making rounds on social media.

A woman filmed herself thrusting her hips in a dirty dancing motion beside an elderly woman whom she was reportedly tasked to take care of.

Ho Ching: Pandemic goal posts moved by the virus… we are where we are

Singapore — The wife of Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, Madam Ho Ching, often comments on the Covid-19 pandemic situation in the country on her Facebook page. 

In one of her latest posts from Monday morning (Nov 1), she wrote that the virus moved the “pandemic goal posts.”
