Singapore — An altercation between two men was caught on camera after the son of one of the men flashed his middle finger at the driver for catching him off-guard while exiting a carpark.
“Teenage cyclist riding against the flow of traffic at the car park exit. When spooked by cam car headlights and exiting, he middle fingered the cam car driver,” wrote Facebook page ROADS.sg, sharing a video of the incident on Sunday (Oct 31).
“His father then came to defend his son’s actions. This is where the shouting match began,” the post added, noting the incident happened at the Dahlia Condominium car park exit on Oct 30 at around 7:30 pm.
The video began with the vehicle exiting the carpark. When it arrived at the exit, the teen on the bicycle hurriedly moved out of the way.
The driver then began asking the teen why he flashed his finger. “That was very rude. You point like that at me for what?”
The father said that his son was mistaken, coming to his son’s defence.
“I have a camera that captured everything,” the cam car driver said after hearing the father ask his son if he did flash his finger.
“He is mistaken; he’s a kid,” said the father.
“You’re a kid, but you have no upbringing at all,” the driver replied.
The discussion soon turned into a shouting match between the two men, with the cam car driver saying, “You have no right to shout at me… He is in the wrong.”
When told the cam car driver should not shout, he replied at the top of his lungs, “You shout, then I shout! You want me to get out?!”
“You apologise for shouting first. You shouted first!” he added towards the end of the video.
With over 120,000 views and 890 comments, members from the online community noted that the cam car driver could have handled the situation better.
“Cam driver also bo standard lah. Shout at people, talk in confrontational voice, start shouting when people never apologise. Yah lah, point middle finger is wrong, people’s father take feedback, is good enough. Whether he do anything is beyond your control liao. Need to shout? It takes a poor upbringing person to recognise one anyway,” commented Facebook user Ash Wu.
“Exactly, father did no wrong and suddenly blamed for no upbringing… cam driver is equally or even more rude… adult should know better than the teenage isn’t?” added another netizen. /TISG
