Golden Village VivoCity is set to host a much-anticipated musical performance by Jeff Ng, the renowned Cathay busker, on September 9, 2022. Despite facing recent challenges in his personal life, Ng’s talent continues to draw huge crowds, showcasing the resilience of his fan base.
Cinema chain Golden Village announced the upcoming event on Facebook on August 18, noting it included an autograph session.
“GV supports the local busking community and is happy to bring you a 2nd edition of busking performance by having homegrown singer-songwriter 黄長俊 Jeff Ng at GV for a music showcase!” said GV in the post.
For a S$20 ticket (S$18 for GV members), the audience can watch Ng perform on Sept 9, from 7:30 pm, followed by an autograph session from 9 pm to 10 pm.
His album can also be purchased for S$12 during the event.
Reports noted that within a day of the event announcement, 75 percent of the tickets were sold.
At the time of writing, the seat selection page for the event shows that all seats are occupied.
It appears that Ng still has supporters and fans willing to put the past behind them.
“Finally! and thanks a lot GV! I am so looking forward to listening to him sing in the comfort of air-con. A recent event at Gardens by the Bay was too warm and humid,” said a netizen on the post.
Ng made headlines in July after he was slapped with allegations regarding his abusive behavior.
His ex-girlfriend of almost three years posted on social media that Ng was the “worst person” she’s ever met.
The woman also revealed he was a “serial cheater” and did so three times during their relationship.
The allegations came a few short weeks after he became an overnight sensation, busking at The Cathay on Saturday nights, drawing huge crowds.
Ng has since made a public apology for his actions, noting he “was young and reckless in his 20s.” /TISG
