Taiwan ― Back in the day, Meteor Garden was a very popular hit series featuring four good-looking guys. F4 consisted of Jerry Yan, Vanness Wu, Ken Chu and Vic Chou. F4 was not just limited to the drama, and the four of them formed a Taiwanese boy band named F4.
Most of them are still going strong even though some of them may have faded from the minds of their fans. It seems that not all the members have managed to stay relevant.
Jerry Yan’s popularity is on the rise again after joining the variety show Call Me By Fire. As for Vic Chou, he made his own comeback in iQiYi International’s drama Danger Zone. Vanness Wu is not as active as Yan and Chou, but he appeared on Masked Dancing King 2021 as part of the judging panel. Unfortunately, Ken Chu’s popularity seems to have waned, reported Hype.my.
Chu did well in 2007 after starring in The Legend of Chu Liuxiang. Chu continued acting after F4 disbanded in 2009. However, by 2018, Chu’s appearances on screen were rare.
Besides being spotted at parties, netizens have commented on Chu’s body, saying that it reminded them of a fat uncle. It could be that it is due to Chu enjoying married life after tying the knot with Vivien Han in 2016.
Chu shared about his current predicament when he was interviewed by Taiwanese media. He said that he had not got any work for a long time and usually spends time playing games at home. He has also got depressed with his miserable situation.
“I am the worst in F4,” Chu said sadly. “No matter what I do, I hit a wall everywhere.” His financial situation is also in bad shape. He said that he had not made any money in Taiwan for the past two years and that his income status was close to zero.
Many assumed that F4 made a lot of money back at the height of their popularity. However, Chu said that it was not the case and that the company was the one who made the money and not the members themselves.
As jobs are hard to come by, Chu admitted he cannot be picky about what he gets. “In the past I felt that accepting adverts was (beneath me), but now there is really no (choice),” he said.
Even though the F4 members used to be close, it seems Chu has lost contact with them for some time. Chu’s wedding in Bali was their last reunion.
However, his wife was also separated from him due to the pandemic. They have not seen each other for over nine months. Chu and his wife both fell victim to Covid-19 in 2019, but they recovered after seeing a doctor. /TISG
