Lawyer M Ravi accuses High Court judge of bias, demands she disqualify herself, later discharges himself & client from SBS lawsuit

 

Singapore — It was certainly an eventful day for lawyer Ravi M Ravi, who raised his voice against High Court judge Audrey Lim, called the opposing lawyer “a clown” and later said he would discharge himself from a lawsuit against SBS Transit.

The hearing for the lawsuit, which began on Monday (Nov 22) and was held via video conference, was supposed to last four days. But the proceedings came to a halt after Mr Ravi accused the judge of being biased and insisted that she disqualify herself from hearing the case.

Two teenage girls missing since Nov 11, police appeal for information

Singapore — The Singapore Police Force appealed on Sunday afternoon (Nov 21) for information regarding the whereabouts of two teenage girls who have been missing for over ten days.

Ms Nur Atiqah Binte Mohd Nizam, 19, and Ms Nurain Binte Abdullah, 18, were last seen near Springleaf Avenue on Nov 11, at around 8:15 pm.

1,440 people to travel between Johor-Singapore during first week of vaccinated travel lane

Johor Bahru — Johor Chief Minister Hasni Mohammad announced that 1,440 people are expected to cross the Johor-Singapore border in the first week of implementing the land vaccinated travel lane (VTL) between Malaysia and Singapore.

“I have good news to share. We have been in constant communication with the respective authorities and the federal government, and the state has been confirmed that land travel will happen on the 29th of this month (November), said Mr Hasmi, reported Malaysia’s National News Agency, Bernama.

Lawrence Wong: Social gathering & dining in group size upped from 2 to 5 persons from 22 Nov

Singapore — Beginning Monday (Nov 22), groups of up to five people will be allowed to dine in, even if they’re not from the same household. However, increasing the limit further is currently not possible, as Singapore isn’t adopting a “big bang” approach to easing Covid-19 measures.

In a press conference by the Multi-Ministry Taskforce for Covid-19, Finance Minister Lawrence Wong announced that Singapore was exiting the stabilisation phase and continuing in its transition towards “living with Covid-19.”

Singapore — Singaporeans were amazed at the good deed of a foreign woman with her two little boys picking up some trash along the Geylang Road on Saturday (Nov 20), after a netizen captured them on video and posted it on TikTok.

The TikTok video instantly garnered views and comments with netizens praising the woman and presumably her two sons picking up trash with her.
