Apple has given out media invites today (30 Aug) to its next event on 7 Sep at Bill Graham Civic Center in San Francisco. In keeping with tradition, the company does not reveal any hints as to what the event is about.

However, such invites are usually reserved for product launches and its current flagship phone – the iPhone 6S – is due for replacement in accordance to Apple’s tradition of a new model every two years with a mid-life upgrades – with an “S” suffix – in between.

According to consensus from Apple enthusiasts, the iPhone 7 is likely to new features such as it being water resistant and doing away with the headphone jack altogether for wireless music.

Forbes has also predicted that the base 16GB model will be scrapped and the new entry-level model will be a 32GB one with prices being $100 cheaper.

Not all is certain, however.

Popular German Apple fan-site Apfelpage predicts that the new launch may just be an incremental upgrade called the “iPhone 6SE” with the actual launch of the iPhone 7 taking place in 2017 instead.

Apple could possibly unveil new MacBook Pros the Apple Watch 2 at the same event.
