The National Environment Agency (NEA) reported that it has suspended the licence of a foodshop at 83 Punggol Central, #01-66, Watertown Singapore 828761, under the Points Demerit System. The period of suspension is two weeks from 28 Jul to 10 Aug. 00This publication understands that the foodshop in question is a Cedele outlet at the shopping mall.

Commenting on the suspension NEA said that depending on the licensee’s past record, an offender who accumulates 12 or more demerit points during a 12-month period may have his licence suspended for a period of either two or four weeks, or revoked. All food handlers working in the suspended premises would also be required to attend and pass the Basic Food Hygiene Course again, before they can resume work as food handlers.

NEA further said that it takes a serious view of these offences and would like to remind food operators to observe good food and personal hygiene practices at all times, and to engage only registered food handlers.

NEA warned that it will not hesitate to take firm action against anyone found to be in violation of the Environmental Public Health Act.
