UberEATS is here and its waiving the delivery fee – for now

After making news for slashing its prices further amid competition from other private-car hailing services, Uber is again in the headlines – this time for the launch of its new food delivery service, UberEATS. In typical Uber style, the company is waiving its 3 dollar delivery fee to entice more consumers.
Boasting a range of 100 restaurants and an attractively low 34-minute waiting time, this new service looks set to encroach on the relatively small food delivery market that is home to established brands like Food Panda and Deliveroo.
Although Uber, with its well-known name, may very well establish itself as a force to be reckoned with, it remains to be seen whether the service can make breakthroughs in the food delivery sector that is limited by the conveniences of simply heading out for meals in the populated city-state.
