Singapore — For Mary’s Delights, a baker in Sembawang, contactless collection has never been a problem, until recently, that is. After all, the proprietor has been in business for nine years.

The baker wrote in a Facebook post on Friday (Sept 25) that self-collection had always been a breeze until that day, when a customer was unable to collect her order on time due to unforeseen circumstances.

All my 9years in this business line… all self collection has been a breeze. But today, contactless collection has gone…

The baker had hung the order at her gate, expecting the customer to collect it at 3 pm. She then left to pick up her child. At 4.50 pm, she noticed that the order had been collected. However, she received a message later that the customer was just on her way to collect the order.

The baker then realised that someone else had taken the food. She later found the unfinished portion in the stairway of the building.

To make matters worse, her customer had an event, which is why she had ordered the food.

The baker, who felt very sorry for the customer, said that the lesson that day was that self-collection should be done at the agreed-upon time. She ended her post by apologising to her customer.

Those who read the post suggested ways to prevent such a thing from happening again.

Others, however, warned against leaving food unattended.
